Lanark North Leeds
Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES)
Welcome to the web home of the Lanark North Leeds Amateur Radio Emergency Service Inc. The club was incorporated in 2014 and is an Ontario Not for Profit Corporation.
We are a group of about 27 federally licensed Amateur Radio operators who enjoy the ability to communicate, construct and experiment in all of the diverse facets of Amateur Radio. We have communicated through satellites, not only with others but also with astronauts on the International Space Station (ISS). In addition, we have shared conversations in voice, morse code and digital modes (integrating our computers with radios) with fellow amateur radio operators around the globe.
Within our group you will find experimenters, computer enthusiasts, electronic equipment designers, kit builders, and contest enthusiasts as well as those who use their interest in radio as a means of serving our communities (Lanark County and Township of Rideau Lakes) from emergency response planning up to provision of auxiliary communications during civil emergencies.
Above all however, we are a sociable group with a common interest in electronics, communications, learning, and having fun with our hobby.
If you’re interested in joining us and pursuing your Amateur Radio license you’ll find no end of willingness of new friends to share information and help getting started in Amateur Radio.
If you’d like to find out more about us, you can start simply by contacting me using the contact form on this site.
